Route 39 Academy is a brand new forward thinking ‘free’ school that opened in September 2013 situated in the stunning area of Clovelly, North Devon. Due to our continued success and growth, we are now looking for an outstanding Lead Teacher of English and Humanities to come and join our team from September 2015.

We are an 11 – 18 state ‘free’ school that opened in September 2013. We have just entered our second year and currently have students aged 11 –14 with some of the students already embarking on GCSE level of study. Route 39 Academy is a new choice for North Devon and very shortly, our students will benefit from new buildings, new staff and most of all, a 21st century approach to education.

We are looking for an outstanding and inspirational classroom practitioner who thinks outside the box with an excellent track record of teaching either English or Humanities to a wide spectrum of students. We are looking for someone who wants to join us on a journey to create something special; to offer students an alternative to the traditional approach to Secondary Education, an education that allows every pupil to prosper.

Route 39 Academy has a specialism of personalisation with an extended school day. P.E is an integral part of both the curriculum and the extended opportunities that our longer school day allows.

These are truly exciting times to join Route 39. We welcome applications from experienced Head of Departments/Subject Leaders as well as those who are seeking their first leadership post and have the experience and drive to innovate and develop the English and Humanities department to its full potential.
