Woodkirk Academy is seeking to appoint an outstanding practioner to act as a lead teacher in one of three potential areas: Teaching and Learning, Year 7 or Year 8. You are welcome to state your preference of responsibility and can indicate more than one on your application form.

We acquired Academy Status in September 2011, which has allowed us to direct more resources towards our ultimate aim of providing a world class educational experience for Woodkirk Students. Our popularity and community standing continues to grow annually and are second to none in the local area. We are a leading partner in the Leeds City Teaching Schools Alliance. Our latest Ofsted report, November 2013 quoted ‘Around the academy, students’ behavior is always good and often exemplary and the quality of care and quality of pastoral care and welfare arrangements are outstanding’.

  • A degree, or equivalent experience, with a teaching qualification.
  • A strong track record of outstanding teaching.
  • The ability to work in collaboration with other members of staff to further the department.
  • Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills.
  • A firm understanding of key national and educational policies and issues.
  • The ability to inspire high achievement in young people from all backgrounds.
  • A clear commitment to improving their own and others performance through effective continuous professional development.
