Aldersley High School is a diverse, high successful 11-18 comprehensive school set in the north-east of Wolverhampton, near to the commuter link of Junction 2 of the M54. Aldersley was the founding school of the Amethyst Trust, which has expanded significantly over the past few years to now encompass five schools in a growing and thriving Trust partnership. Aldersley has been judged as 'Good' in its most recent inspections in both 2018 and 2023 and has maintained a strong Progress 8 score and above average attainment throughout this period. We're in search of Leader Practitioner of Science with whole-school responsibility who meets the following criteria:

We are delighted to offer an excellent opportunity to an outstanding Science practitioner who is looking to move their career forward by moving beyond teaching in department to have real whole-school impact and build their experience. We are particularly looking for an experienced teacher who can teach either Physics or Chemistry (or both) to a successful level that must include experience at post-16, as this teacher will make a significant contribution teaching in our Amethyst Sixth offer. We are also looking for candidates who can offer some impact in a whole-school responsibility aligned with our school improvement priorities, in an area such as STEM, supporting high prior attainers or making an impact with disadvantaged students.

You will have experience of teaching Science to an exceptionally high level, with a track record of excellent outcomes which allow students to reach their full potential. You may have led within a Science department, but this is not as necessary as a desire to take whole-school responsibility for a candidate who has the ambition to ultimately become a school leader at large. You will be highly committed to creating a strong culture of high expectations and engendering a love for Science both inside and beyond lessons, so that students have an experience in Science that they never forget.
