Job overview

‘Striving for excellence in an Outstanding, Successful, Caring, Achievement driven learning environment.’

The Academy enjoyed its best ever set of GCSE results last summer, and is on an upwards trajectory. Could you be the person to move us on to the next stage of our journey on the quest for excellence? We require the following staff for September 2015.

Leading Practitioner for Science

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and leader who is keen to lead a very strong department, striving to raise standards through developing outstanding teaching and learning.

The successful applicant will demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, strong subject knowledge, a passion to support young people to make progress, and the ability to teach innovatively and creatively.

OSCA opened 5 years ago as an Ormiston Academy. With the appointment of a dynamic, experienced Principal, the next stages in our development will be critical in ensuring that the Academy provides a fitting learning environment for the 21st century, where students can maximise their potential and contribute effectively to society on all levels.

We are in very close proximity to Birmingham city centre with excellent transport links by car, bus and train; and are just a few minutes from Junction 2 of the M5.

Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. We therefore insist that all applicants complete the section on safeguarding in the application form in order to be considered for interview. No agencies.

Application packs are available from the Principal’s PA jayne.orme@ormistonsandwell.org.uk or the Academy’s website www.ormistonsandwell.org.uk. We do not accept CVs.

Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy is located in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, and in very close proximity to the centre of Birmingham. It is a slightly larger than average, 11–16 co-educational academy with approximately 1,080 students. It has grown over the last few years and is now full and oversubscribed in every year group for the sixth consecutive year. The academy’s reputation locally is excellent, and the catchment area has shrunk dramatically over the years, with competition for places is fierce. Staff and students work in a very pleasant learning environment, which has benefitted from a major re-build and refurbishment programme. This has created exciting, new and well-equipped learning spaces. The majority of the academy’s students now live within a one-mile radius of the academy, making it an academy that is really at the heart of the community.
