Goresbrook School opened in September 2014, with three classes of Reception children, and has made a tremendous start. We require a Learning Mentor with strong literacy and numeracy skills and a professional approach to provide support to targeted groups of pupils in order to ensure that they make excellent progress.

Your wider remit will include providing teaching assistant support to the school and as an integral member of the Teaching & Learning you will be part of the planning and development meetings each week.

Day-to-day tasks, amongst others, will include:

  • Establishing good relationships with a target group of pupils and acting as a role model, responding appropriately to their individual needs;
  • Developing action plans with teachers for individual pupils;
  • Managing individuals or small groups of pupils with special learning requirements under the guidance of teachers, within or outside the classroom;
  • Being a member of a Teaching and Learning team that plans and delivers a key part of the curriculum for the students whilst responding accordingly to the individual’s education plan;
  • Assisting in the preparation of learning materials and the learning environment, including the display of students' work;
  • Planning and leading after school clubs;
  • Supporting and working in collaboration with colleagues and other professional in and beyond the school, covering lessons and providing other support as required;
  • Supporting the school’s values and ethos by contributing to the development and implementation of policies, practices and procedures.
