Rated Good by Ofsted in January 2014, West Exe School is a vibrant and innovative school where we promote “Excellence for All, in all that we do” and believe in “Bringing Learning to Life”.
If you are considering a career in teaching, the Learning Mentor post offers an ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience of working in a busy secondary school. The role is very similar to that of a private tutor, with the postholder responsible for supervising and working with individual and small groups of students, preparing and delivering learning programmes across the range of student abilities, up to and including GCSE Mathematics and English. You will need to establish positive relationships with the students and therefore a proven record of successfully working with young people is desirable. A good level of education is essential, with the successful candidate preferably having achieved an A grade in GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent qualification).
For further details please telephone or email the School or visit the school website
Please apply by 9am on the closing date.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
A DBS disclosure is required for this post.

The secondary school helps pupils to gain the skills to work in teams, to manage others and to become leaders. It also supports students to become responsible, global citizens and develop the skills and attitudes they will need for their futures.
The school delivers the national curriculum, which includes English, maths, art, science, design and technology, ICT, modern foreign languages and geography. Vocational subjects include music and drama as well as PSHE. A wide range of extra-curricular activities includes netball, Ten Tors and working with charities.
Ofsted report
“Students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is promoted well, both through the curriculum and in the wider life of the school. It is fostered by a range of visits and by the wide variety of opportunities in music, art, drama and sport, together with effective assemblies and religious education lessons that give many opportunities to reflect on serious issues.”
