Sir William Romney’s School is a small 11-16 comprehensive with 450 students located in the South Cotswold market town of Tetbury. The school has had a very long association with the town and will be celebrating the 400th anniversary of its foundation in September 2010.  The Cotswolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is characterised by rolling hills and its many charming and unspoilt towns and villages. Transport links are good in the area and the area is well served with good primary schools.

Sir William Romney’s serves a very large rural catchment area, with 11-16 year old students joining us from not only Tetbury itself, but also Nailsworth, Stroud, Minchinhampton, Avening, Horsley and many other villages. The school is very much a community school and for many students we provide a focal point in their lives and to this end, seek to provide a range of opportunities both in and outside the classroom to nurture and stimulate the individuals in our care.  The school places significant emphasis on its inclusive nature.

Since 2005, Sir William Romney’s has been a Performing and Visual Arts College and this specialist ethos can be seen across the school from cross-curricular project work between arts and other subjects to joint projects with our primary feeder schools, from openings for adults from the local community to participate in the Arts, to extra opportunities to work with professional artists, musicians, dancers and actors.

The School has a number of partnerships with local secondary schools.  In addition, it is part of the South Cotswold Partnership; this partnership provides vocational education for students from the five partner secondary schools and Cirencester College and the Royal Agriculture College.
