Job overview

Fixed Term Appointment to July 2017, based in London

The National Army Museum (NAM) holds the premier collection of material relating to the British Army and tells the story of the British Army at home and abroad from earliest times to the present day. The Museum has been successful in securing phase 2 Heritage Lottery Fund support for our Building for the Future project, which includes a major re-development of the Chelsea site involving the complete re-presentation of the Museum displays and facilities, including dedicated spaces for learning, to ensure the Museum sits at the forefront of military museums in the 21st century.

This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic learning professional to join a passionate and committed team; and to participate in the development and delivery of its future learning programme during and after the £23.25m re-development of a transformed national museum.

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Outreach Officer to join the NAM’s Learning team at a crucial stage in its £23.25m Building for the Future (BftF). The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of formal outreach learning programmes to schools in London, and periodically at sites around the UK, with the purpose of maintaining the Museum’s profile during redevelopment; to pilot and test new programmes for the Museum’s relaunch; and to attract new audiences to the Museum after re-opening.

Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have a recognised teaching qualification and recent experience of teaching in either the classroom, or a heritage environment, or ideally both. Experience of producing and delivering exciting and engaging learning programmes to time, quality and cost according to project scope is essential.

Closing date for applications is Friday 7th August 2015 at 12pm (Noon).

Interviews will be held on Thursday 20 August 2015
