Brockenhurst College has a fantastic opportunity for two Lecturers in Engineering to join their growing team on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,547 - £40,026 per annum DOE (salary scales under review)


We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role: 

As the Lecturer in Engineering you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.

 

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Engineering will include:

·       Teaching on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum to give an inspirational experience to all learner groups

·       Preparing and marking student work to provide constructive feedback that drives rates of progress and achievement

·       Paying due attention to the principles of inclusive learning

·       Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum

·       Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/sector

·       Attending and contributing to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents’ Evening, as appropriate

·       Advising and assisting the Head of Curriculum and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms

·       Acting as Course Leader, when requested

·       Participating, as a team member, in the development of teaching methods and strategies towards an ethos of continuous improvement

 

As our Lecturer in Engineering, you’ll ideally have:

·       Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area

·       Appropriate teacher training qualification (or working towards this)

·       The ability to deliver aspects of the Engineering specification, notably specialists in mathematics and science-based content

·       The ability to inspire, support and manage learners and learning effectively

·       Strong knowledge of engineering and delivery of theoretical units on vocational programmes

·       Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area

·       Flexibility, rigour, resilience, excellent organisation skills

·       The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs

·       Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students
