We currently have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to be part of one of the largest departments at Middlesbrough College. We are looking for somebody who can deliver on Foundation Learning programmes which will include teaching students who have a learning difficultly or disability. This programme area is part of the directorate of Health and Care. We are a vibrant and exciting department with fantastic staff who work together as a successful team. Success rates in this area are outstanding and our students achieve and progress often beyond our expectations. We have recently developed a new enterprise venture ‘Second time Around’, a second –hand vintage shop that promotes skills that are important in developing independence.

The job role will include being a personal tutor, teach and assess across a range of NOCN entry level 1, 2 & 3 and level 1 programmes, including personal progress and skills for life. We will expect the post holder to be involved in a variety of activities that supports students both before and during their time at college. This includes attending open evenings and marketing events and to be involved in student interviews, enrolment and induction. It is the high level of pastoral support we give to our students that makes us stand out as a department and this is an essential part of the role. It is important to track and monitor student progress and to advise and support students to have a successful future, whether this is to progress to independent living, supported employment or volunteering. Students’ progress and have worthwhile and rewarding outcomes and your part in this journey is absolutely crucial.

The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant qualification at Degree and to be a qualified Teacher or must be prepared to commence an appropriate teaching qualification on appointment to the post. We will also expect that the candidate will have experience in working with young people or adults with a learning disability or difficulty
