Wakefield Sixth Form is based at our brand new and expanding City Campus and Crofton Academy. Its provision is expanding each year and currently offers more than 30 A level subjects. Sociology is increasing in popularity and due to this success we now need to recruit a Lecturer in Sociology to teach on the A level course as well as the Sociology unit of the Access to Humanities programme for mature students.

There may an opportunity for the appointed Lecturer in Sociology to take the role of a Personal Tutor for AS/A level and/or Access to HE students, depending on experience. Although this is a 0.5 post in the first instance, we envisage this growing into a more substantial post for the right person as we continue to expand.

To succeed, you’ll need to be passionate and enthusiastic about your profession and committed to keeping abreast of current changes to make sure that what you teach is relevant for today’s workplace. Courses need to remain as popular and so we’ll also look to you to assist with marketing, student retention and enrolments as and when required.

Our students are keen to learn from professionals such as you, whether you’re already a qualified teacher, or have the necessary experience of working 16-18 year olds in a similar capacity and are willing to obtain your teaching certificate with our help. Either way, your degree in Sociology or related discipline will need to be backed by a broad understanding of the subject and relevant curriculum.

See what we have to offer and come and join us. You won’t be disappointed.
