New Horizons Federation is a hard federation of two special schools, Oakwood and Westbrooke Schools, for pupils with social emotional and mental health issues and the Bexley Pupil Referral Service at Pathways Short Stay School. The Federation also provides a range of services to school stakeholders and the Local Authority through an Outreach Service and behaviour projects.

New Horizons Federation is currently entering an exciting new phase in its development. We are therefore seeking an experienced practitioner with a background in focused literacy interventions to take up the post of HLTA delivering high quality programmes to our learners. You may be already working as an HLTA or keen to progress into the role with experience of supporting accelerated literacy skills through a background in teaching or specific literacy support. You would be joining a skilled team of teaching and support staff in providing high quality learning for our students. This is an opportunity for an experienced and skilled practitioner to make a real difference to children’s lives. A proven background in managing challenging behaviour alongside evidence of securing successful academic outcomes are essential requirements.

If you have enthusiasm, commitment and a desire to work with some of the most vulnerable and complex young people in our community, we would welcome your application. High aspirations and a relentless approach towards excellence are the key skills we are looking for along with evidence of previous outstanding classroom teaching. A willingness to be involved in developing extra-curricular activities and the wider curriculum would be an advantage.

For further information and an informal conversation about the role, contact Jo Southby (Executive Head Teacher) on 01322 553787 (option 2) or 07811 327494.

Closing Date: 1st August 2015
Interview Date: 4th August 2015

References will be requested for those short listed ONLY and prior to interview.

Only those shortlisted for interview will be contacted.
