LOWER SCHOOL CLASSROOM TEACHERS (Foundation Stage, Key Stages 1 and 2)

Previous experience of teaching within the National Curriculum for England and Wales is expected. Experience of working overseas would be helpful, but above all we are seeking a real commitment to academic excellence in the international context.

Further details are available on the school website www.sjhschool.com and www.cobis.org.uk.

The School was established more than forty years ago and is an independent, not-for-profit organisation enjoying a national and international reputation. Teachers work as part of a mutually encouraging team, finding the students responsive and enthusiastic and the parents supportive and appreciative. The School was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in November 2013; the quality of pupils’ achievements, learning, attitudes and skills were judged to be excellent as were the quality of teaching, pupils’ personal development, pastoral care and the quality of leadership and management. A copy of the inspection report can be found on the School’s website and the ISI website.

The School occupies a pleasant site close to the centre of Milan, a cosmopolitan and dynamic city, the financial and economic capital of Italy, and an exciting place in which to live and work. It combines history, art, fashion and sport, while the city is ideally located to give easy access to much of northern Italy - the dramatic landscapes and recreational facilities of the Italian Lakes and the Alps, the Mediterranean, and the cultural riches of Florence, Venice and central Italy.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure and all applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers, and DBS checks or International Child Protection Certificate.
