Term Time Only – 10 hours per week (6 months fixed contract)

The Council is currently undertaking a comprehensive review of employee pay, grading, terms and conditions of employment. It is intended that changes will be implemented after agreement with the trade unions. The terms and conditions and grading of this post may potentially change.

The Key Stage 1 Pupil Referral Unit/Behaviour Team are looking for an effective and enthusiastic role model who can understand and engage lively young children, who present with challenging behaviour, across the lunch time period.

The role will include assisting with meals; modelling social skills; developing indoor and outdoor active play/sporting experiences, which will contribute towards improving the interactions of children who are referred with emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will also support the settlement of children in the classroom, ready for learning.

You will have a nurturing, though firm approach. A willingness to be flexible is essential. Previous experience of working with challenging children would be beneficial to this role. You may be a Teaching Assistant who is looking to develop your skills in managing children’s challenging behaviour.

As a successful candidate you will work alongside other experienced staff to engage children in activities, whilst re-enforcing positive behaviour and social interactions.

The role is required to work within one of our PRU provisions which is based within Farringdon Primary School, Archer Road, Farringdon.
