The Ministry of Education, Employment and Gender Affairs invites applications for the post of Manager, Career Services

To manage a team of two Careers Advisors and deliver an extended and enhanced range of careers advice, guidance and counselling services through a centralised Careers Advisory Service for secondary students which ensures students are informed and positioned to make appropriate career choices and to gain access to work placement experiences that enhance their ability to achieve relevant employment post compulsory education.

The post holder must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (such as Education, Career Advice, Counselling, HR Management) from a recognized institution
  • Five years’ experience delivering Career Advisory Services of which two must have been at a senior or managerial level
  • Extensive experience working with secondary age students in a counselling, training or advisory capacity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and with the ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel and a wide range of employers
  • Strong networking and relationship management skills with proven ability to establish cultural and professional relationships with experience of working with organizations which support internship activities such as Rotary or Professional Societies.
  • Well established project and people management competencies
  • Experience of working with teachers in a supportive and developmental capacity
  • Familiarity with University/College entrance requirements in North America, the Caribbean and the UK

Qualified Teacher Status and prior experience teaching within the Cayman Islands Public School System would be preferred but is not essential

The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents
