Frederick Bremer is seeking to appoint a Manager and Lead Teacher to oversee the high quality provision of teaching and learning for up to 25 statemented pupils in our ASD resourced provision ensuring these pupils make outstanding progress.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and outstanding teacher, who is able to plan strategically and has a deep understanding of the needs of pupils on the autistic spectrum They will ensure excellent provision and intervention predominantly in the mainstream environment, that enables students with autism to achieve the best possible outcomes in line with other students. This will include working with, and training, curriculum teachers to ensure high quality differentiation and intervention as well as co-ordinating individual education plans and behaviour plans.. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual with an energetic and flexibile approach and strong leadership skills to lead a committed team of TAs. The provision featured on ‘Educating the East End’ and we have strong links with the NAS as a result of this, and our ASD pupils have featured in the local and national media.

Frederick Bremer is a school which is committed to inclusive practice for all our students from our local community, over a third of whom have a variety of special educational needs. The school is focused on narrowing the gap and removing barriers to achievement ensuring students make the highest possible progress and attainment.

About Frederick Bremer School

Frederick Bremer School is a mainstream, non-selective, co-educational secondary school for children aged 11-16, situated in Walthamstow, East London. There are 860 students on its roll.

The school has specialist provision for children who have autism spectrum conditions. It also has a large and highly specialist special educational needs team, which supports a large number of pupils with needs ranging from visual impairments to cognitive learning needs.

Frederick Bremer School was named after a local entrepreneur who invented the first petrol-driven car in 1894, which he drove around the local streets of Walthamstow.

"The headteacher has been relentless in driving improvement over the last three years. As a result, the quality of teaching is increasingly strong and pupils are making rapid progress. Pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare are good. They enjoy being a part of the strong inclusive school community and have confidence in each other. The attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers in the school is closing quickly. Safeguarding provision is strong. Pupils are well informed about keeping safe; they feel safe in the school."
