This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic, driven professionals to join our Family of Schools at Outwood Academy Adwick. In January 2023, Outwood Academy Adwick were awarded GOOD grading from Ofsted, they described Adwick as having a, “…supportive and caring culture. Staff build warm and friendly relationships with pupils. Pupils achieve their full potential. Pupils know that staff will listen to them if they have a concern. Pupils feel safe and valued at the school. Leaders’ records show that bullying is rare. If it happens, pupils are confident that staff will deal with it quickly.”

We are seeking a practitioner who has an excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’. We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Maths Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity to change the lives of our students and show your passion for mathematics.

We have ten teachers, a specialist numeracy teaching assistant and three one-to-one tutors. The department is a combination of experienced staff and more recent entrants to the profession.

Teaching takes place in the department’s ten classrooms. Every classroom has a visualiser and these are used extensively by the team. Some classrooms have large television screens and others interactive whiteboards. We are very lucky to have such a great building and surroundings to work in.

The department has created a rich and engaging KS3 curriculum following Shape, Data, Algebra and Number.

There is a strong whole-school Numeracy strategy which aims to ensure that all students can gain the educational and personal benefits of number. This includes intervention in school time which is delivered in small groups with our specialist in his specialised room.

As in all OGAT secondary academies, the department prepares students for the Edexcel GCSE Maths qualifications. The programme of study is fully planned on a department scheme of work with high-quality materials available created by highly specialised staff across the Trust. We aim to help all our teachers to become ‘experts’ in preparing students for GCSE examinations, using our thorough and systematic methods devised over many years. We have the benefit of support from the trust’s team of expert Maths directors, who provide support, materials, advice, coaching and who model and team-teach in lessons alongside us to develop our expertise. As an indication of our success, we have a strong positive average progress for all students.

If you are interested in becoming the leader of our team, please contact Kate Davies, Director of Maths (k.davies@outwood.com) who would be pleased to tell you more, either by email or telephone, and we would be delighted to welcome you on a visit if you would like to see us in person.

This is a permanent Adwick appointment. Subject to curriculum demand, there may be a need for the appointee to work for a period of time at a neighbouring Outwood Academy until a suitable vacancy arises at Adwick.

We are an 11-18 academy based just north of the large, friendly, South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.

We have been a member of the Outwood Family since 2009, and in our 2023 Ofsted inspection the academy was graded Good in all categories. The inspection noted ‘the school has a supportive and caring culture. Staff build arm and friendly relationships with pupils. Pupils achieve their full potential. Staff are proud to work at the school’.

We offer a holistic education that makes learning stimulating, engaging and enjoyable for every student.

The inspectors were equally complimentary about our sixth form provision, with a wide range of courses on offer; including A Levels, vocational qualifications and T-levels.

We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence for 3 years, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.
