Kosice International School (KEIS) is the first international school in Eastern Slovakia. Our school is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum focusing on technology-enhanced learning. We are a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme (MYP), working towards full authorization in early summer this year. With significant growth in recent years, KEIS now serves children ages 3 to 16. Our programmes include the Early Years programme (ages 3-5), the PYP curriculum (ages 6-11), and our Middle School programme (ages 12-16). Our next goal is to open all five years of MYP (we will have MYP1-4 classrooms from Sep 2024) and start the authorization process for IB DP to become an IB Continuum school.

Description of Position:

We are looking to employ a positive, passionate, and motivated MYP Coordinator to join our school with a challenging task: supporting the leadership to finalize the IB Continuum within KEIS. The role of the MYP+DP Coordinator will be to oversee the implementation of the MYP, actively help teachers to collaboratively develop interdisciplinary and integrated units and facilitate a high-quality, 21st-century learning environment that promotes CAS. The second task is to start and oversee the process of DP authorization.

Criteria:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be of native-level English language abilities.
  • Demonstrate strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Have relevant teaching qualifications and proven teaching experience in an IB MYP or IB DP setting.
  • Have experience with the IB programme in a MYP (preferably) and/or DP coordinator position
  • Knowledge of educational theories and pedagogy.
  • Model an inquiry approach to teaching and learning.
  • Have more profound knowledge and/or experience of the IB and the IB MYP Learner Profile and a commitment to the educational philosophy.
  • Experience implementing technology into inquiry-based learning.
  • Enjoy teaching and working in an internationally-minded environment.


Essential Duties 

  • Provides pedagogical leadership and support based on IB MYP standards and practices
  • Contribute to the development, orientation, and support of new and returning teachers.
  • Responsible for the school DP authorization process


Curriculum, Planning and Preparation 

  • Design and supervise the implementation of the curriculum based on the IB MYP framework
  • Ensures adequate documentation of the curriculum and assessments
  • Collaborates with PYPC on the development and annual vertical and horizontal review of the PYP and MYP
  • Is familiar with and promotes understanding of all MYP documents to stakeholders
  • Prioritizes the IB standards and practices throughout the school
  • Update essential MYP documentation and policies
  • Implement MYP action plans
  • Supervise, plan and implement all actions towards IB DP authorization


Instruction and Assessment 

  • Establishes a schedule of regular meetings with teachers to discuss MYP practices, implementation of the program and foster interdisciplinary coordination based on concepts
  • Supports teachers to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum in the classrooms
  • Supervises the development and implementation of assessment practices
  • Monitors assessment practices and procedures to ensure a balanced approach
  • Provides staff with ongoing feedback regarding teaching and learning

Communication 

  • Facilitates the preparation and submission of all IB correspondence and documents with the IBO 
  • Conducts onsite professional development to support stakeholders' more profound understanding of the program 
  • Responsible for all communication with the IBO
