Job overview

We are looking for an experienced nursery teacher to join our school in Dulwich in September 2015.

The Nursery works closely with our federated primary school. Both boast amazing outside learning spaces in a woodland setting. We also take children to the woods every week.

Although you will be expected to work hard and be accountable for producing accelerated progress, we are a fun place to work at - as part of the Dulwich Wood Federation, you will have access to a pond, a lighthouse, six chickens and an emu to enhance your teaching!

If you are up for the challenge, then why not book a visit to the school before you apply? We are one minute’s walk from Sydenham Hill railway station and just ten minutes’ walk from Gypsy Hill station.

Closing date: Friday 1st May at 1500
Interview date: 13th May

As a Federation we are committed to safeguarding. All applicants will be required to make an enhanced disclosure via the DBS.

Application packs are available from the School Office: office@dulwichwood.southwark.sch.uk or from our Website: www.dulwichwood.com.

About Dulwich Wood Primary School

Dulwich Wood is located in Dulwich, London. It consists of a primary school (Dulwich Wood Primary), a nursery school (Dulwich Wood Nursery) and the Camberwell and Dulwich Children and Family Centres serving all of Camberwell and Dulwich.

Dulwich Wood sits at the heart of the Kingswood Estate, backing on to the ancient woodlands that give us our name. The community we nestle at the centre of, and the awesome nature on our doorstep, are central to our children’s learning lives.

We have exceptional space, which we have developed to create a unique educational environment that celebrates inclusivity, encourages collaboration and drives creativity in our learning, underpinned by a rigour that sees our academic attainment improve year on year alongside our children’s emotional and social wellbeing.

What are we like?

We are creative, caring, confident and collaborative!

In our 2022 OFSTED inspection at the Primary School the inspector said:

The pupils’ happiness and excitement are seen and felt as they enter the school gates. Their exuberance brings life and energy to this school. Pupils are safe because they show kindness towards each other, and the staff are ‘warm, welcoming, and caring’. Many parents rightly share the view that the school‘ provides a supportive, safe and encouraging environment for the children’.

In our 2021 OFSTED inspection at the Nursery School the inspector said:

Children attend school with enthusiasm. They enjoy playing and discovering in the woods within the school grounds. Children flourish in the extensive outdoor spaces. This is because the curriculum provides a wealth of well-planned activities to support their wider development. Children play together happily and are well looked after. Adults create a caring and nurturing environment. They make sure that children are safe and teach them to be considerate of each other.
