Wetherby School is a thriving and highly successful non-selective, independent school in Notting Hill with 350 boys, aged 4 to 8. The school is heavily oversubscribed and extremely successful in securing pupils’ entry into the preparatory school of their choice. Wetherby School are looking for a career minded and enthusiastic GAP Office Assistant to join our team as soon as possible!

 

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and confident and will be able to support and inspire children to foster their enthusiasm for learning. They will also have the skills and maturity required to take on the teaching assistant’s duties and responsibilities. A willingness to contribute fully to the extra-curricular activities and life of the school is vital.

 

We are looking to appoint an Office Assistant to work 9:00-13:30 every week day, on a Term Time Only Basis! If this is something that interests you, please complete the application below!


 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer main school telephone, screen and direct calls
  • Answer the door for deliveries; unpack, log and distribute post and deliveries
  • Monitor stationery and office stock, place orders for these with school suppliers
  • Respond to parental enquiries either in person or by phone or by e-mail
  • Help administer First Aid to boys
  • Greet and welcome all people entering the school, ensuring all sign in/ wear badges
  • Help manage sign in/out books
  • Relay messages to staff, parents and the Headmaster
  • Note answerphone messages
  • Help contact parents of boys
  • Assisting with pupil registration when needed
  • Managing lost property
  • Assist with contacting service departments for office equipment
  • Attend Inspired training sessions as required
  • Assist the Registrar with data entry tasks, putting together new pupil packs and files, updating records.
  • Attend any school events outside of school hours as required by the Headmaster
  • Provide assistance when requested in order to ensure the smooth running of the administrative team.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • High Proficiency in English both spoken and written
  • Proficiency in the main Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Good personal presentation and organisation     
  • Reliable, honest, flexible and trustworthy
  • Able to work in a busy environment with adults and children alike
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable
  • Responsible and able to prioritise work-load
  • A willingness to be flexible and manage change
  • Experience of working as part of a team and able to manage workload independently
  • ‘Can-do’ attitude/willing to help out
  • Professional and polite in conduct with clients, parents and staff
  • Have a friendly and polite telephone manner
  • A willingness to participate to school events
  • Experience in a school environment is a strong advantage, but not essential.

About Wetherby School

Wetherby School is based in Kensington and Chelsea, London. The independent pre-preparatory school admits boys aged 4-8. There are currently around 360 boys enrolled in the school, which occupies a listed townhouse.

In 2002, the school became part of the Alpha Plus Group. It was founded in 1951 and moved to its current location in 1971.
