Job overview

We are seeking an inspirational, talented, and committed part-time teacher of Textile Design and Art, to teach and develop our A Level Textile Design Course, as well as contribute to the teaching of GCSE and A Level Fine Art.


Outline & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have:

  • Good honours degree in Textile Design, or related discipline.
  • Evidence of being, or having the clear potential to be, an outstanding teacher of their subject.
  • A strong knowledge of contemporary textile practice.
  • An interest in Fine Art and the ability to contribute to the teaching of GCSE and A Level Art.
  • An interest in contributing to the wider life of the school.
  • Evidence of either their own, or their students’ most recent work.
  • Experience of working with students of GCSE, A Level or Further Education age.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • A team player.
  • An interest in contributing to the teaching of textiles at Prep School level may be advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • It is anticipated that the successful candidate will possess a good honours degree, will be experienced at teaching to A Level and able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the subject.

  • An enthusiastic, organised, team-player, ready to nurture aspiration whilst managing expectations.
  • It is anticipated that the person appointed will play an active part in the life of a busy boarding school and will be enthusiastic, reliable and flexible in approach.
  • Willingness to ‘pitch-in’ within the department.
  • The ability to work within a team but also independently, taking initiative when necessary.
  • Critical evaluation of self, the ability to reflect upon own practice to inform future development.
  • Energy and enthusiasm to inspire pupils in Textile Design and Fine Art.

Located in the town of Oswestry, Shropshire, Moreton Hall is an all-through school with a Sixth Form for pupils between the ages of 3 and 18. The school was founded in 1913 in an Elizabethan manor house. Boys are accepted up to Year 8. 

Values and vision

Moreton Hall aims to provide a high standard of education by following a tailored curriculum. It offers a nurturing environment that allows girls to grow and excel, personally and academically. Pupils are able to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities on the school grounds.
