We are seeking a Peripatetic Music Tutor - Strings (violin, viola, cello) specialist to join us in September 2024 to assist with the delivery of our MiSST curriculum. 

They must be able to work with other members of the music department in the preparation and presentation of Academy ensembles, productions and concerts. The candidate will be driven to developing student engagement and involvement in the wider life of the music department.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • be a passionate teacher, performer and a committed team player
  • plan and deliver inspiring instrumental lessons to both small groups and whole classes which allow students to make excellent progress
  • be an excellent communicator with pupils, staff and parents
  • be able to inspire pupils at secondary level
  • be an excellent performer
  • contribute towards the music department through seeking out and delivering special opportunities to increase uptake and nurture those already learning


Teaching is part time, in term time only. The hours of work are dictated by the number of pupils requiring lessons. Currently, we have 8 hours of teaching a week and it is hoped the successful applicant will be proactive in encouraging more pupils to start lessons. There may be opportunities to get involved with other music-making activities in the Academy.

COLAT currently oversees six secondary academies, three primary academies and one sixth form centre all located in north, south and east London.
