The successful candidate will:


  • Have a thorough understanding of how to keep children safe and have a good knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • Leadership experience (leading a team, leading a wider-school initiative or subject leadership) in the primary phase
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner and have experience of being a role model and coach to others.
  • Have experience of curriculum planning, implementation, assessing and recording
  • Have the ability to inspire, lead and motivate children and staff, being an exemplary practitioner who leads by example and is able to demonstrate outstanding classroom practice and articulate what constitutes effective teaching and learning within the phase
  • Work in conjunction with the other members of the Senior Leadership Team to be accountable for the standards of teaching and learning and pupil progress throughout the phase in all subjects
  • Have knowledge of the underperforming and vulnerable groups within the phase and work with the core subject leaders and SLT to ensure appropriate provision is in place to encourage accelerated progress from all pupils.
  • Lead, develop and enhance the teaching practice of other staff; delegate, monitor and support effectively
  • Support colleagues in ensuring effective curriculum coverage, continuity, progression and challenge through the application of extensive knowledge and well-informed understanding of assessment requirements and arrangements for the core subject areas
  • Fulfil the requirements of an enhanced DBS disclosure.
