Following the promotion of the current Vice Principal to the role of Principal at the academy we are seeking to complete the team to continue the transformation that is taking place at the academy.

We are therefore seeking to appoint a Phase Leader (Y5 & 6).

We are looking for teachers and leaders who have a sense of humour, are creative, innovative, are resilient, and are themselves keen to learn and have something special to contribute to our evolving team. In short we want team players who have an infectious love of learning.

We need you to be diligent professionals who are highly organised and alert to the children's emotional and social needs as well as their academic requirements in order to ensure that all achieve their full potential.

We can offer:

  • A rich ethnic mix of lively children whose imaginations and energy will keep you on your toes
  • Parents who want to work in partnership and are very supportive.
  • Great indoor and outdoor space just crying out for redevelopment into the most amazing learning space - a blank canvas for your creativity and innovations.
  • A newly formed team who are invigorated by our early changes
  • Fantastic career opportunities as the first Academy in a new Academy Trust with plans to grow.
  • A dedicated team of talented and caring staff, and a fully supportive and active Trust Board.

Our beliefs:

  • Education changes lives
  • Good teachers never give up on wanting to make a difference
  • Everyone has a special talent and it is our job to help them find and develop it
  • All children can achieve
  • Children thrive when parents and teachers work together

The successful candidates will become part of a team who work together, plan and prepare resources together and even make each other cups of tea!

We welcome applications from NQTs as well as experienced Teachers.

Please come and look round prior to applying to us.

Closing date: 5pm, Monday 4 May 2015

Kingfisher Academy was opened in October 2014 replacing the Belvedere Junior School. The predecessor school had been in special measures since 2012 and little progress had been made to address the issues raised in that inspection. Since taking on responsibility for the academy Burton and South Derbyshire College as sponsor, working through the Burton and South Derbyshire Education Trust, has undertaken significant work to transform the learning experience for our young people. There are now clear signs that the transformation necessary is beginning to take place with that support. A strong leadership team is developing with a clear focus on teaching and learning and the current round of recruitment is designed to further enhance the capacity of the whole academy team to continue that journey.

Burton and South Derbyshire College is supporting the academy in a number of ways. This has included College staff and students volunteering to provide one-to-one mentoring for pupils, use of the College facilities for academy staff and pupils, using the College’s extensive industry and employer links to support learning in the classroom and in educational visits and providing specialist support across key areas of IT, HR, Estates and Governance.

We are under no illusions that there is still much to do in order to make Kingfisher Academy an exceptional place to teach and learn but that is our ambition. It is clear that, even at this early stage, the academy now has a buzz about it. The journey has begun and we are determined that we will make rapid progress to reach our ambitions targets for the academy and the young people that it serves. We are looking for people to join us on that journey.
