Physical Education Teacher

We are looking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and committed teacher to join our successful PE Department. The ideal candidate should have experience working with a range of ages and be capable of creating dynamic, inclusive lessons that develop fundamental movement skills through a range of activities, with the goal of fostering lasting fitness habits for the students.  Experience working with older students or delivering IGCSE PE and familiarity of the IB program would be an advantage.  Sport is already an important and valued aspect of the school and we are excited to welcome a colleague who will help make it an even stronger feature of a BIS-NY education. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach across the school age range with a particular focus on Middle and Upper Years
• Model excellent practice within the department
• Work collaboratively with teachers to integrate PE with unit of study
• Work closely with the Head of the Physical Education Department to effectively deliver the PE curriculum across the school year.
• Promote and coach co-curricular teams and sport
• Have an interest in technical developments across a range of relevant physical activities
• Maintain a personal approach that promotes the nature and ethos of PE & Games 

Person Specifications:

• Teaching qualification
• Experience teaching middle and upper students
• Experience of playing a variety of sports competitively
• Knowledge of IGCSE PE or willingness to learn
• Excellent communication skills and be willing to adapt to the demands of an international school
• Have the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload
• Ability to work within a team
• Well organized with good time management skills
• Flexibility
• Experience of IB and or willingness to learn

• Generous salary commensurate with experience (Range: $58,887 - $98,138 for qualified teachers)
