Job overview

0.8FTE (FULL-TIME MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE)

We are looking for a first-rate classroom practitioner (subject irrelevant) who also has successful experience of teacher training (within a school or university) to lead our primary PGCE courses.

The University of Buckingham's School of Education has grown remarkably - in size and in influence - over the last decade. Our numbers have increased to over 500 trainee teachers and school leaders per year, and we are now the largest and leading provider of teacher education to the independent school sector. As our reputation grows, we are attracting more teachers from state schools in the UK and schools across the world. All of our courses are school based with termly residentials at Buckingham, and our PGCE provided the model for the School Direct route for teacher training.

Our department is a happy and hard-working place. The successful candidate will sympathise with our views on education and teacher training (see our website for these), will understand the workings of the independent and state school sectors and will have a good sense of humour.

Informal enquiries may be made to Beatrice Moreau-Gray, Director of PGCE, on Tel: +44 (0)1280 820219 or at beatrice.moreaugray@buckingham.ac.uk.
