We are seeking to recruit Primary and Early Years teachers with roles at our school due to start from 15th August 2024. It is expected roles will be available across Early Years, KS1 and KS2 - candidates should detail within their application their relevant interest. Development opportunities into Primary leadership will also be available at the school, an example of which is our current vacancy for Head of EYFS. Candidates with relevant leadership experience and desire to manage early years should apply via that application.

About the School

British School Quito (BSQ) https://britishschoolquito.edu.ecis Ecuador's only truly British international school, where the EYFS and English National Curriculum is taught with strong links to local language and culture. In our Secondary department students study iGCSEs and the follow the IB Diploma programme.

Academic standards are high with many graduates going on to study in the world’s top universities.

Applicants must have a relevant Bachelor degree from a reputable UK University, Qualified Teacher Status, with a PGCE, BEd or similar from the UK. Applicants must speak native-level English. We welcome applications from recently qualified teachers with excellent references.

Living and working in Quito

Quito, its Ecuador’s capital city. At 2,850m above sea level it is the highest official capital city in the world and is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in South America. It’s stunning architecture that serves as a reminder of Ecuador’s history, sits alongside it’s beautiful landscape, nestled between the mountains of the Andes.

The city has a relaxed, welcoming, and friendly environment, and a pleasant climate all-year-round because of its elevation and proximity to the equator. Average afternoon temperatures are approximately 21 °C and average night-time lows of approximately 10 °C.

Quito is located within 20 kilometres of an International airport with regular flights to Europe, the US, and wider region.

The Process and how to apply

Your application should be submitted by email and should include a CV along with a letter of application, detailing how you feel your skills and experience meet those contained within the role profile. You should also include the names and email contacts of three referees, one of whom must be your current or most recent employer.

Closing date for applications is Friday 26th April - However early applications are encouraged to avoid disappointment as we anticipate significant interest in these positions.

Initial selection interviews with qualified candidates will take place virtually on a rolling basis as applications are received. Arrangements for final stage interview will be shared with individuals ahead of final stage.

The British School Quito is an international quality, English language, British curriculum school with Ecuadorian Social Studies and Spanish as core subjects. The school has over 330 students from ages 3-18

There is a full time bilingual assistant assigned to each Early Years and Primary class. Learning Assistance and ESL programs are available. Students in the primary school follow the UK National Curriculum core enriched with Ecuadorian and global content. Students in the secondary school follow the KS3 National Curriculum, IGCSE programs of study in years 10-11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in years 12-13.
