Job overview

The Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) Trust and Governors want to appoint an exceptional Principal and Chief Executive to lead an exceptional academy serving an exceptional community.

The Academy, rated “Good” by Ofsted last summer, has an ambition to be more than outstanding – in local, national and international contexts. Created three years ago from the voluntary merger of five schools, IPACA is an all-through academy. It is sponsored by the Aldridge Foundation and co-sponsored by Dorset County Council. Internationally renowned Professor Stephen Heppell is the Patron and is actively involved in the Academy's development and programmes.

A major building programme is underway so that from September 2016, learners will be taught on three campuses including a learner designed Sixth Form Centre. These have been purposely designed for the Academy's education values and philosophy of:

  • inclusivity and personalisation
  • all-through, based on “schools within schools” with collaborative project learning in home and specialist bases
  • a stage not age approach
  • digitally enhanced learning
  • the community being in IPACA and IPACA being in the community
  • every learner and member of staff being a leader and empowered.

You might already be a Principal/Headteacher or an outstanding senior leader waiting for the right opportunity. As Principal and Chief Executive you will:

  • be a member of the IPACA Trust and Governing Body
  • be committed to the vision, values and ethos
  • be responsible for achieving improvement in educational attainment
  • secure cultural and behavioural change
  • be an exemplar leader of people and strategic steward of resources
  • participate in the Aldridge Foundation's family of academies and principals' programmes.

Closing date: Monday 1st June.
