The Somerset Studio School [Formally Mendip Studio School] is a co-educational school based in Bath and North East Somerset for students aged 14-19.

The school is small with a maximum of 300 students. Students work in smaller groups with individual support from a ‘personal coach’ who meets with them one-to-one every fortnight to develop their own personalised learning plan and to tailor their curriculum to their individual needs and aspirations.

As an integral part of their studies, students will participate in work experience. In Year 12 and 13 students will spend either one or two days per week in work.

Values and vision

The Somerset Studio School believes itself to be a place where classroom based learning and the world of work are truly integrated.

Working closely with local employers, the school aims to offer a range of academic and vocational qualifications including GCSEs in English, Maths and Science, as well as paid work placements linked directly to employment opportunities in the local area. The school firmly believes that this approach ensures students’ learning is rooted in the real world and will help them to develop the skills they need to flourish in life.

At the school, it is also believed that personalisation of the school curriculum will be further supported through a small school environment in which every student will be able to access the tailored support that they need.
