Job overview

Sandon School is an Outstanding National Support School for SLD and PMLD pupils. It is one of the founding schools of the quickly growing Community Inclusive Trust (CIT), which currently includes Ambergate Sports College and Isaac Newton Primary School, with other schools going through the process of conversion to join.

The school mission statement is: ‘For every second to be Valuable, Inspirational and Personalised (VIP)’. Due to the expansion of the school and Trust, Governors are delighted to appoint a Principal with strong child-centered values and a proven ability to lead the staff in achieving exceptional outcomes for our students. This is an exciting time, not only for Sandon, but for all staff within CIT as it grows and the opportunities that will become available.

The Executive Headteacher of Sandon and the CIT senior leadership team, together with a dedicated and hard working staff, will support the successful applicant.

The starting date for the post is 1 September 2015.

Applications would be welcome from candidates in primary or secondary mainstream schools with knowledge of special educational needs, as well as from SEN schools.

We are excited to hear from candidates who have:

  • Highly effective leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate other people;
  • Experience of effectively leading and managing change and the ability to think strategically;
  • A strong commitment to collaboration and partnership working;
  • A good level of specialist knowledge, or the ability to lead those who have a deep understanding of how children and young people with additional needs learn and make good progress;
  • High expectations and the ambition, drive and determination to achieve the mission statement ‘for every second to be VIP’;
  • A strong commitment to working positively and pro-actively with parents, carers and a wide range of professionals and services; and
  • Excellent management and organisational skills.

Governors would strongly encourage candidates to visit Sandon to see the school at work. To arrange a visit or for an application pack please contact Suzanne Fenn by email – suzanne.fenn@ganf.org.uk or by telephone on 01476 564994.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on 11 May 2015.

This post involves working with children and, therefore, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check (DBS) at an enhanced level. Further information about the Disclosure Scheme can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check.
