To build on these foundations, we seek an exceptional and committed educational leader who can provide the drive, stability and continuity that the academy requires and deserves.

As Principal, your key priorities are to:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the academy to ensure its continuous accelerated improvement.
  • Improve the quality and the consistency of teaching and learning, so that all teaching is good or outstanding.
  • Increase the number of students enrolling in Y7 by presenting the academy as an aspirational and high achieving school within the local community.
  • Take an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to assessing and further developing the academy’s resources.
  • Work in partnership with your fellow Principal at Ryde Academy to raise standards and embed a culture of high aspiration across the east of the Isle of Wight.
  • Ensure that all young people on the Isle of Wight have high expectations, outstanding achievement and reach their full potential, as well as being prepared for both work and life.

You are...

  • An outstanding and ambitious Deputy Headteacher or Vice Principal with substantial experience of school leadership and rapid school improvement or an experienced Headteacher or Principal who is hungry for the next challenge
  • An outstanding communicator with the ability to engage with and motivate staff, students and parents/carers.
  • Ambitious, skilled and experienced with the operational expertise to manage an academy’s human and financial resources.
  • Able to balance day-to-day priorities with strategic vision, clear goal-setting, delegation and accountability.
  • Able to model effective teaching and learning and deliver a high-quality curriculum for all students.
  • Eager to work in partnership with the Trust and build open and honest relationships with all key stakeholders.

Your reward...

In return for your energy, resilience and experience, we offer you the opportunity to work in a beautiful part of the country, with an academy trust that offers its Principals central support and direction alongside local autonomy. We are committed to developing academies that focus on outstanding performance and are prepared to reward your commitment with a highly attractive remuneration package and a generous relocation package. Ofsted

We are currently judged to be in the 'special measures' category following our inspection in May 2017. Ofsted acknowledges that arrangements are in place to address their findings, but they have not been in place long enough yet to eradicate all weaknesses. They also made comment that Sandown Bay Academy did not feel like an inadequate school, but this judgement was the best way for the sake of the students to ensure the rapid progress needed.
