Job overview

As the only designated Sixth Form College in Staffordshire, City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College has a unique opportunity to shape the lives of young people and raise aspiration within Stoke and our surrounding communities. With an income of £8m and around 1,550 students, the college offers a complementary mix of academic and vocational provision. In line with our mission to be "a young persons' college developing skills and inspiring excellence" we have instilled an unswerving focus on quality, which is manifested in improved outcomes and in-year progress.

The college is located in an award-winning, state of the art building which forms part of Stoke-on-Trent's £250m University Quarter and benefits from sharing facilities, such as the newly built Science Centre, with the adjacent Staffordshire University. Our current financial grading is "Outstanding" and we enjoy strong links with our community partners.

Due to the retirement of our current Principal, we are seeking a dynamic leader who will ensure a successful and progressive future for this independent Sixth Form College. Key to our success will be leading our sustained journey of quality improvement, while motivating and harnessing the talents of our workforce. Our new leader will also act as a strong ambassador for the college, developing productive partnerships with key stakeholders and inspiring young people from local communities.

Our successful candidate will demonstrate robust knowledge of 16-19 education and a successful track record of managing and developing staff in a senior leadership role. Financially astute, you will exemplify a culture of innovation and ambition to ensure the best possible outcomes for the college. Gravitas, clarity of purpose and the ability to galvanise internal and external stakeholders are also of paramount importance.
