Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a primary specialist to join us to lead and drive forward our primary professional development support initially across science and/or mathematics but also more widely across STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This is a key role, building on existing provision and developing it further to ensure we provide primary STEM educators with the high quality support they deserve.

To be successful, you will have to be passionate about primary education, have extensive experience in primary science and / or mathematics education including secure subject knowledge across the sciences and / or mathematics and possibly, other areas of STEM. You will be an experienced leader, with a proven track record in key aspects of ensuring successful science or mathematics in primary and early years’ environments. You will be able to reflect on your own practice and develop yourself and others through the use of subject-specific CPD, including experience of delivery within and across schools. You will understand the importance of identifying impact of professional development on pupil outcomes, and recognise how this can be continually improved.

You may currently work in one of a range of educational environments, but must have recent and relevant subject/school leadership experience gained within the last 5 years. You will be an excellent communicator who can quickly develop productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will need creativity, drive and tenacity to ensure teachers of primary science can access the highest quality support possible.

In return, we can offer an excellent working environment with a dedicated and enthusiastic team, along with an opportunity to make a real difference to STEM education across the UK.
