Are you ready for your next big adventure ….Alexandra College, Camden Opening September 2015

MacIntyre is an award winning national charity supporting children, young people and vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. In partnership with Westminster Kingsway College and Camden Borough Council we are building a new innovative, person centred provision in Camden. Alexandra College will deliver a local specialist provision for young people aged 16 to 25 who have severe and complex needs. Together, we are establishing an integrated hub of education, health and social care from September 2015 in a newly refurbished site in Camden.

We are looking for qualified Education Professionals to work as Programme Coordinators. You will plan, lead and deliver personalised education plans that inspire and develop the young people who attend.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within an outstanding innovative, forward thinking new provision, leading young people’s’ learning, (16 to 24) with severe and complex needs.

To be a Programme Coordinator, you will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification and have experience of working within further education with SEN learners who have complex needs. You will also need to be experienced in planning, developing and delivering personalised education programmes to a diverse range of learners.

With your support, Alexandra College will provide a wide range of opportunities that meet the needs and aspirations of young people. The curriculum focuses on Health, Employment, Independent Living and Community Inclusion. Learning will be underpinned by specialist support. Programmes will be flexible and individualised, focusing on what young people need to learn to support their transition from education to adulthood, and preparing them for what they want to do next. Most importantly, each learner will have a stimulating, meaningful and exciting time in college.

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a probation period and in some cases relevant qualifications. Part time and term time only positions are pro rata.

Alexandra Centre of Further Education is a further education college that caters for young people aged 16-25 with special educational needs and disabilities, located in Camden, North London. The centre opened its doors in September 2015 as a partnership between national charity MacIntyre, Westminster Kingsway College and the London Borough of Camden.

It was London’s first FE provider specifically for young people with disabilities and special education needs and can cater for up to 50 students. 

MacIntyre is a national charity providing education, learning, support and care to more than 1,500 adults, children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

Values and vision

The centre’s “No Limits” programme of further education is targeted at those with severe and complex needs. This programme focuses on health, employment, community inclusion and independent living.

Alexandra Centre of Further Education aims to offer learning that is flexible and individualised, designed to focus on what students need to learn in order to help them transition from school to adulthood.

Students are given an Individual Learning Plan, and the centre aspires to ensuring that each learner is given a stimulating, meaningful and exciting time in college.

The centre aims to offer a vibrant and stimulating environment while focussing on rigour and the attainment required for progression. It aims to help every student to become a well-rounded, confident citizen, ready to take their place in society.

Students at the Alexandra Centre of Further Education can access courses and vocational training at other Westminster Kingsway College Centres, including health and beauty, catering and creative arts programmes.
