Skills for Care is the employer-led workforce development body for adult social care in England. We work with employers across England to make sure their people have the right skills and values to deliver high quality care.

Home of the National Skills Academy for Social Care, we offer workforce learning and development support and practical resources from entry level right through to those in leadership and management roles.

By working with employers and sharing best practice, we help raise quality and standards across the whole sector and ensure dignity and respect are at the heart of service delivery.

The role will have specific responsibility for a broad portfolio of Leadership and Management activity. The purpose is to provide the vision, leadership, policy direction and strategic and operational management for all aspects of Leadership and Management work to support the improvement of strategic and operational work force development in the social care sector.

The successful candidate should be a flexible and dynamic thinker across strategic, policy and operational areas in the field of Leadership and Management and will be responsible for the planning, strategic development and delivery of the Leadership and Management strategies in England.

Strong communication and networking skills are essential as the post holder will work closely with key strategic stakeholders and government departments and represent the Adult Social Care sector in terms of developing Leadership and Management policy.

The successful candidate should have in depth knowledge of Leadership and Management issues within adult social care as they will be required to work proactively and collaboratively through the matrix management approach to ensure that Leadership and Management development and issues are given consideration and incorporated appropriately in the development of all other programmes of work in Skills for Care

The ideal candidate would also have in depth working knowledge of the adult social care and learning and development sectors as well as social care issues and strategic/policy drivers.
