Job overview

Leyton Sixth Form College offers a wide range of A level and vocational courses to approximately 2,000 full-time 16-19 year old students. We strive to provide high quality education and support to our students in fulfilling their academic potential and becoming thinking, questioning and caring members of society. We are a diverse and vibrant college and are both proud of and celebrate the year on year success and achievements of our students and staff.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our Expressive Arts department and to make a significant contribution to the ongoing success of both the department and the college.

Our Expressive Arts department has modern facilities, part of our extensive building and redevelopment programme. The purpose built accommodation includes a 120 seat theatre, dedicated studio spaces for drama and dance, full equipped photography and television studios, music practice rooms and an editing suite. This provides an excellent learning environment for our students and also enables us to run a successful calendar of productions and performances.

As Programme Manager for Expressive Arts you will be responsible for leading the associated curriculum areas and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning within your team. In addition, you will manage the college’s season of performances and other enrichment activities.

You will be a key member of the college’s management team and will contribute not only to improvements and success within your own area, but to other college-wide initiatives and activities.

You should be suitably qualified to teach within a sixth form college and have a relevant teaching specialism. In addition, you should have experience of managing others, excellent communication skills, and a track record of sustained improvement leading to a positive impact on students’ progress. As an inspirational teacher, you will be committed to student-centred learning and to raising the attainment and aspirations of our students.

In return, we offer excellent benefits and development opportunities, as well as the opportunity to work within a thriving and committed environment.
