Job overview

Temporary post From September 2015 to August 2016 - 0.8 (but open to negotiation, minimum 0.6) with TLR 2a for Leading Every Child a Reader within school

Haveley Hey is a rapidly improving school, that has been judged by Ofsted to be a Good school (January 2015) and is recognised as a 'school that is a caring, nurturing place where pupils feel safe.' Haveley Hey is a Rights Respecting School where respect and advocacy for children's rights sits at the heart of its ethos and approach.

We have worked hard to make sure that there is a whole school approach to reading that strives hard to make Every Child a Reader. Our current Reading Recovery teacher has worked hard to embed approaches from Reading Recovery within Guided Reading and reading interventions.

We are in a prime position to take this approach to the next level and so have the need for a fully trained Reading Recovery teacher who can deliver Reading Recovery to a high standard, support the team of Teaching Assistants who deliver the Fischer Family Trust intervention and continue to drive ECAR forward with passion and belief. This person must demonstrate a high level of commitment, enthusiasm and love of learning that will help the school on its journey towards outstanding.

The school is part of a multi-academy trust working closely with its partner, The Willows Primary School; and has strong educational links with Manchester Grammar School and partnership links with other schools in the local and wider Manchester clusters.

The post is an exciting opportunity to become part of an energetic team focused on achieving the very best for our children.

The successful candidate will take up the post after school has received a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and references.

You will:

  • Be committed to developing children's learning, preparing them for exciting challenges of the future
  • Be an outstanding Reading Recovery teacher who sets high expectations and can engage the wider school team with the ECAR approach
  • Display an ability to motivate and inspire a love of learning for all children, working positively within a high level of urban challenge
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, all with a high level of resilience
  • Demonstrate the ability to work closely with the Headteacher, Governors, Literacy Leadership team, and the school community to build on our high standards through a shared vision
  • Be able to manage innovation, challenge and change

In return we offer you:

  • Enthusiastic and friendly children
  • A very supportive and committed school community
  • A happy and harmonious environment in which every child really does matter
  • An opportunity to share in strategic school improvement and development
  • A commitment to your professional development
  • An opportunity to contribute to the continuing development of our school.

Safeguarding information
