We are looking for dedicated, passionate and committed Reintegration Officer to promote an inclusive culture throughout the trust, based at our Kennington Park Primary Academy, enabling all learners to achieve their best, overcoming barriers to learning and participation.  The Reintegration Officer is a very important post, working with the Reintegration Coordinator of Kennington Park Academy outreach service to support primary and secondary transfer students and also delivering early interventions to prevent both fixed term and permanent exclusions in primary schools across Lambeth.

The successful candidate will have a background of working within mainstream schools or Alternative Education Provision, in the area of in-school support or outreach, reintegration and prevention of exclusions, with children with difficulties relating to their social and emotional wellbeing and presenting behaviour and sometimes other special education needs (SEN). You will need a strong understanding and experience of providing behaviour support and support plans to learners with social, emotional wellbeing needs and SEN. You will need to have experience of managing and coordinating appropriate provision and liaising with colleagues, parents/carers and outside agencies.

Kennington Park Academy is part of the Parallel Learning Trust, a forward thinking and innovative alternative education provider whose main aim is to provide outstanding education for primary and secondary aged learners with a wide range of learning needs who have been permanently excluded from mainstream and sometimes special schools.  We also provide an intervention package for pupils at risk of exclusion.  Our aim is to reintegrate pupils back into mainstream schools whenever possible.

You will need to have experience of:

  • Supporting the creation of clear and ambitious vision for the academic achievement of students to raise student aspiration
  • Providing in class and withdrawal behaviour support
  • Attending and contributing to multi professional meetings
  • Establishing positive relationship with parents and carers
  • Planning, monitoring and evaluating interventions for individual and groups of students
  • To manage own caseload, use initiative and work autonomously
  • Use of ICT and data to support interventions and casework
  • Supporting learners within a primary setting who have challenging behaviour
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluating and keeping records, including educational, pastoral and behavioural plans
  • A commitment to providing high quality educational opportunities and meaningful reintegration for pupils with social, emotional behavioural and difficulties
  • Experience of intervention and conflict resolution, including the appropriate use of physical intervention if required
  • Maths and English at GCSE level; HLTA or NVQ qualifications desirable
  • The ability to remain calm and positive under difficult circumstances
  • A passion for team work and ability to work as part of a highly effective team
  • Excellent communication and IT skills

In return we can offer

  • A competitive salary within the sector
  • The experience of working alongside a committed, cohesive and successful team
  • Excellent peer support from our outstanding team and an ethos of team working
  • Opportunities for further professional development and career progression
  • To develop your practice with leading approaches to teaching and learning
