Science Teacher (Biology and Environmental Systems & Societies)
Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies are both popular and well-established subjects at St. Andrews and we are looking for an experienced and inspiring teacher to join the Science team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13.
Science is studied by all students in Key Stage 3 and follows schemes of work based on the English National Curriculum, but adapted to reflect the international nature of our students.
At Key Stage 4, all students must study at least one Science, with many studying two or more, chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and, beginning next year, Environmental Management. In Key Stage 5, all students must study at least one Science, with many students studying two chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Environmental Systems and Societies and Physics. Environmental Management and Environmental Systems and Societies are popular subjects at IGCSE and IB respectively, and previous experience of teaching these courses would be a significant advantage.
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and has an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB. Our work on Assessment for Learning, Growth Mindsets and, more recently, High Performance Learning is a very important part of this.
Our school is committed to developing a Virtual Learning Environment using Moodle. There is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate. All Science classrooms have data projectors and interactive whiteboards and access to the internet, with a laptop cart, iPads and ICT labs bookable when required.
As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.

St Andrews International School Bangkok was founded in 1997 on an attractive, conveniently located site which today is home to our Primary School.
