Woodcote High School has long been a top choice for parents in the Coulsdon & Purley area of South London. Located in a pleasant suburban setting on the borders of Surrey, Sutton and Croydon, the school has a rural feel but is officially in the Outer London salary band.
Ruled “good” by Ofsted in 2015 in all areas, inspectors praised our students as “attentive, hardworking and practically always keen to learn. They get down to work fast and keep going diligently”.
GCSE results are way above average and A level results are improving rapidly. Teachers rate Woodcote as an enjoyable place to work due to the “fabulous students and supportive colleagues”.
The post would suit either an existing teacher or NQT. We are open to applications from any science specialism (Chemistry, Physics or Biology). This is an excellent opportunity to work with our highly motivated and innovative staff in this forward-looking, successful school and department (in 2014 88% of students achieved A*-C in GCSE science and AS/A2 results were above ALPS targets). The school is very well resourced (all Science staff have their own lab) and we are delighted that we have just received a grant of £1.6m to completely refurbish our 11 laboratories. Since opening in 1957, Woodcote High School has constantly evolved and grown, whilst remaining at the forefront of educational developments in the area.
Exam results have for many years exceeded national and local averages, delivering a positive Progress 8 score. Other landmark achievements over recent years include significant building projects, the opening of a Sixth Form at the School, the opening of an international standard athletics facility (Track Coulsdon, in conjunction with South London Harriers and other funding partners) and the establishment of the Enhanced Learning Provisionfor mobility impaired students.

We also run a series of events where guest speakers are invited into school to speak to the student body.
