Job overview

Are you an inspirational teacher with a passion and enthusiasm for your subject?

Would you like to apply your skills in an innovative organisation with smaller class sizes?

South Devon High School welcomes interest from Science teachers with or working towards QTS or QTLS status.

South Devon High School, based at South Devon College, Paignton campus, is a new and exciting option at Key Stage 4. As part of the college, rated as an “Outstanding” education provider and top Further Education College in the country, learners at South Devon High School will receive the same outstanding provision. From September 2014, pupils entering Year 10 have had the choice to study at South Devon High School, combining GCSE’s in core subject areas, including English, Maths and Science, with specialist technical pathways.

With a vision to ensure that every pupil reaches their full potential by providing the very best support in an employment focussed learning environment, we are determined to stretch and challenge pupils, through outstanding teaching, using state of the art equipment and resources.

A unique feature of our provision is the small class sizes, typically less than 15 per class, which allows teachers more time to support learners. We are an ambitious school and set high standards and expectations of our pupils both in terms of attitudes to learning and academic achievement. Students complete a selective assessment before they are offered a place at the school, to ensure the programme will meet their needs.

We are an Investors in People Gold award winner and have recently won a National Beacon Award for Employee benefits in Health and Wellbeing.

If you are an outstanding teacher with passion and enthusiasm for your subject we would like to hear from you.

You will be required to undertake formal scheduled teaching duties including teaching, tutorials, and student assessment. You will be required to teach Science at GCSE level, and inspire learners to achieve their full potential.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in the relevant subject, a teaching qualification (or be able to acquire one within the College's specified timescale) and experience of teaching the relevant age group. They must be an excellent motivator with relevant subject knowledge and a "can-do" attitude.
