Job overview

We are looking for a dedicated and inspirational teacher to bring their passion for the subject to our pupils. This role presents a genuine chance for the person appointed to contribute to the growth of both the department and continued development of their own teaching. Collaborating closely with the Head of Maths, the Second in Department will play a pivotal role in guiding and overseeing the department. Specific duties will be tailored to align with the chosen candidate's areas of expertise and interest.

THE DEPARTMENT

We are a busy, friendly Maths department who work closely together. Pupils in the Senior School are set by ability from year 8 and follow the Edexcel IGCSE course. GCSE Further Maths is offered to selected pupils in Year 10 as an after-school activity. Mathematics is a popular A level course and AS Further Mathematics is also offered in the Sixth Form to suitable students. Maths challenges and events are run at various points throughout the year.

The Second in Department will be assisted by four other maths teachers some who have additional roles in the school. This is an exciting opportunity for a Second in Maths to help develop this already successful department. STEM subjects are highly valued at Stonar and we are aiming to develop the use of technology in teaching over the coming years.
