We are seeking a passionate, energetic and ambitious Second in English to join our expanding team due to an increased focus on English within the timetable and wider curriculum. As part of an educational restructure in the local area in 2022, we have welcomed over 300 new students and over 30 staff into our community and are now a secondary school of nearly 850 learners across Years 7-13. As we embed the fantastic changes that have enabled our learners to be successful, we are seeking more colleagues to become part of our journey and help us to deliver teaching and learning to the highest levels.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • To be an exceptional teacher of English.
  • Develop and demonstrate high-quality leadership skills.
  • Act as a lead practitioner and model of excellent teaching in all aspects of the role.
  • To help ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum area.
  • To work alongside the Head of English and team and begin leading areas as directed, such as taking on responsibilities for supervising the KS3 curriculum.

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has a degree or equivalent.
  • Is flexible, able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • Has a track-record of exceptional classroom teaching with an understanding of effective pedagogy.
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to and knowledge/experience of effective strategies to maintain and raise attainment, in particular to address the differing needs which exist in the mixed ability classroom, which include second language learners.
  • Has experience of improving outcomes for students with SEND or disadvantage.
  • Has a commitment to the aims and values of comprehensive education, the school’s vision and ethos, as well as the implementation of equal opportunities policy and practice.

 Wadham School can offer you:

  • The chance to be a part of an exciting educational journey alongside highly regarding professionals.
  • The opportunity to work with exceptional colleagues and wonderful young people and their families.
  • Strong and supportive leadership, who place value on learning beyond the classroom.
  • The opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful areas of Southern England.
  • Fulfilment, in knowing that you matter, and the work you do makes a positive difference to the lives you touch.

Values and Vision

“Life in all its fullness.” John 10:10

We believe that everyone deserves to experience life in all its fullness and should be given the opportunities and support to do so — this is what makes our job as educators so fulfilling.

If our mission is to ensure that time spent at Wadham school will enable our students to grow into confident, knowledgeable and caring citizens, ready to cope with the demands that life will throw at them, then our vision is simply:

“To ensure our students go on to experience love, fulfilment and community in an ever-changing world, as a result of exceptional school provision, equally weighted between outstanding academic achievement and individual personal development.”
