Job overview

The Southern International School, Hatyai (SIH) provides an international curriculum for both expatriate and Thai students. We are now seeking an innovative and inspiring teacher of English to join our secondary school team in August 2015. Applicants should be university graduates with a recognised teaching qualification with experience of teaching the national curriculum of England and IGCSE. Experience of teaching English to second language learners would be an added advantage as would the ability to teach a second subject but is not essential. For the 2015-2016 academic year the successful applicant will teach years 6-9 whilst in the 2016-2017 academic year the successful applicant will teach years 7-10.

If you are committed to child centred education, with a deep rooted desire to help every child fulfil their potential and are interested in helping shape the future development of a young international school we would be delighted to hear from you.

Contracts are for two years with an option to renew by mutual agreement. Benefits include a competitive salary, housing allowance, flights at the beginning and end of the contract, end of contract gratuity and places in the school for up to two of your children.

Whilst the closing date is June 30th interested applicants are encouraged to send a cover letter, CV, photograph and contact details of three professional referees as soon as possible to recruitment@southerninter.com as interviews will take place on a rolling basis as applicants are shortlisted.

As SIH is committed to safeguarding children and young people all applicants will need a satisfactory Criminal Records (Police Check) disclosure from their most recent country of residence.

We would like to thank all applicants for their interest and for taking the time to apply; however please note that only applicants short-listed for interview will be notified.

About Southern International School HatYai

The Southern International School Hat Yai was established in 2015 to serve the needs of both Thai nationals and expatriates in the region who wish their children to have a broad and balanced international education. School enrolment currently stands at approximately 190 students with classes ranging from Early Years to Year 11. The Primary section follows the International Primary Curriculum whilst the curriculum for Years 7-11 is based on the National Curriculum of England and follows Cambridge Secondary 1 and IGCSE.

In June 2019 we were awarded the  ISQM Silver accreditation, a massive achievement for such a young school. Our report describes us a '"good school" and notes that "Students' personal development and the school's partnership with parents are outstanding." It adds, "Teachers' subject knowledge is outstanding" and "Teachers plan lessons that are exciting and interesting."

At a recent marketing event we had a tremendous amount of support from our  current parents, who spoke openly to prospective parents about the trust they placed in our school and the amount of individual care and attention paid to their children by our teaching staff. The students feel nurtured, cared for and have many opportunities to learn 21st Century skills and eternal values. We are a happy school. Please look at our Facebook page to get a feel for our culture.

As a young school we are looking for people who are not only excellent teachers but  also willing to contribute to the overall development of the school over the coming years as we make innovation, creativity, integrity, development and professionalism the core values of everyone working at the school. If you would like to be part of a team working together in a professional and collegiate environment then this is the school for you. We are happy for any shortlisted candidate to communicate with our current teachers to get their perspective on living in Hat Yai and working at SIH.
