Job overview

The Lycée Français de Chicago is looking for an experienced IB MYP / DP Math Teacher to teach at the middle school and high school levels for the 2024-2025 school year.  The IB DP/MYP  Math Teacher has a strong knowledge of their field of study and shares their enthusiasm with students. They challenge and inspire students to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, preparing and presenting lessons in math that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within their class;
  • Motivating students with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation;
  • Maintaining discipline;
  • Helping each student to reach his/her/their full potential in the subject taught
  • Providing individual and small-group instruction that accommodates the needs of students of varying intellectual and artistic abilities;
  • Preparing and evaluating work to facilitate positive student development;
  • Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of students' development;
  • Communicating with parents and providing them with feedback on a student's progress during parents’ meetings;
  • Working with others to plan and coordinate work, working flexibly and close curriculum collaboration with colleagues;
  • Organizing and taking part in school events, outings, and activities which may take place during weekends or in the evening;
  • Striving to maintain and improve professional competence;
  • Attending administrative meetings as needed;
  • Other related duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate is a flexible, organized, and independent team player who is adept at multitasking.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred Mathematics, Education or related field. 
  • IB DP/MYP experience required. 
  • At least two years of experience teaching in an independent school at the high school level is preferred. 
  • Appreciation of and sensitivity to cultural differences. Cross-cultural interests and/or experience in cross-cultural environments preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in solving problems, strong organizational and time management skills, and keen attention to detail, strong work ethic, and flexibility.

Additional Information

  • This is an exempt, full-time position with benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403b with 4% match after 2 years, 70% tuition remission for any children enrolled at the Lycée Français de Chicago, 10% tuition remission for any children enrolled at LFC*daycare and a generous paid time-off policy.
  • This position will be open beginning next school year with a start date of August 2024.
  • All employees must pass background and medical checks.
  • This position requires onsite presence at the Lycée campus.
