Our Values: Community     Respect       Wellbeing      Growth          Creativity

We are seeking to appoint a new secondary class teacher to join our growing team at this inclusive all-age special school.

The successful candidate will work within our Secondary phase, where pupils have class teachers who deliver Core and Foundation subjects with some support from a small number of specialist subject teachers. We therefore welcome teachers from Primary or Secondary backgrounds, who can deliver high quality lessons across the curriculum with a sense of creativity and fun.  We also welcome applications from across the spectrum of diversity, celebrating difference as one of our strengths. We pride ourselves on developing our staff into broader skill areas and future promotions and support wellbeing as a priority. We also like to learn from our staff as we develop together for the benefit of our pupils.

Hazel Oak supports a broad range of pupils with learning difficulties which include Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, social, emotional and mental health, speech, language and communication difficulties, plus more complex and medical needs. Communication, wellbeing, life skills and the functional use of core skills are central to our curriculum, which brings real life experience into learning.

The successful applicant will be required to adapt and deliver the national curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our learners, with regular opportunities to develop your pedagogy through collaborative team working, creating inspired experiences and cultural capital for all learners.

Staff are actively involved in the school’s development and have access to regular training, peer and wellbeing support. Hazel Oak is a supportive family team with a passion for progress, both in our pupils and our staff. Come and see what we can do to support your next challenge, pre visits are welcome.

We can offer you:

  • Health and wellbeing support through an external provider
  • Salary sacrifice for childcare costs
  • Subsidised public transport costs, eye tests and glasses for DSE users
  • Regular training and CPD opportunities

Our vision: Having fun, discovering our place in the world, building relationships and overcoming challenges. Learning about life beyond the classroom to shape a successful future.

This is your chance to be a part of something special.
