Hurworth House School is an independent, specialist day school for boys and girls aged 7 to 19 years who have complex learning difficulties including behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). The young people may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their difficulties.

The newly refurbished school has been specifically designed to educate young people with complex needs and associated behaviours. Our school provides a spacious resourced environment in which young people can achieve goals, thrive and grow. Hurworth House aims to deliver the highest level of education tailored to individual need in a safe, positive and structured environment where every student is encouraged to achieve the best possible academic, social and vocational outcomes.

Hurworth House can provide places for up to 40 young people. Placements are flexible, including extended day options, for 38 weeks of the year. Many of the young people referred to the school will have a Statement of Special Educational Need, although this is not an admission requirement.

Transportation solutions are provided for students where required within an all-inclusive fee. This ensures attendance, continuity and substantial cost benefits for service purchasers.
