Job overview

From September 2015, Allen Edwards is seeking to appoint an outstanding SENCO to lead, develop and support effective practice for pupils with SEND, with additional responsibility for setting up a brand new Speech and Language Resource Base. This position is non-class based with some teaching responsibility within the speech and language resource base. The resource base will open in September 2015 taking 2/3 pupils per year, with statements of special educational needs, until it reaches its full capacity of 15 pupils.

The successful candidate must have appropriate SENCO qualifications, a confident knowledge of the new SEN Code of Practice 2014, and a proven track record in raising the achievement and attainment of students.

You will have responsibility for leading a team, coordinating high quality assessment, support and intervention, as well as delivering staff development, to ensure inclusive, quality first teaching, where pupils, regardless of barriers to learning, make accelerated progress.

Allen Edwards is a mainstream community primary school catering for pupils from Nursery to Year 6.
