Job overview
De La Salle School is an oversubscribed, non-selective, co-educational, Roman Catholic secondary school for children aged 11-16 under the trusteeship of the Lasallian Brothers. It is situated in Eccleston, a suburb of St Helens, Merseyside, within the Archdiocese of Liverpool and currently has 1,200 pupils on roll. We are a proud member of a Lasallian family of over 1 million staff and students in 80 countries around the world.
The school is a wonderful place to work which is summed up in the opening lines of our most recent Ofsted report:
This school has an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness that helps pupils feel at ease. The strong, positive relationships between staff and pupils exemplify the school’s values.
We have high expectations of all of our staff who we challenge to be the best they can be, which in turn creates a passionate and positive family of staff. This is a school for those who share that passion combined with a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to developing young people.
Staff development is key to our ethos and our staff benefit from our outward looking approach, with strong external relationships to provide a high level of guidance and professional development for teachers and support staff at all stages of their careers. These links include being a PiXL school, an active member of the Archdiocese of Liverpool Secondary School Improvement Trust, part of the St Helens School Partnership Board, Association of St Helens Secondary Schools, North West Maths Hub as well as being a key partner in teacher training with Edge Hill, the Aspirational Teaching Alliance and Liverpool Hope University. Our ECT support is viewed as being a model for outstanding practice across the region.
We are seeking to recruit an outstanding teacher to join our expanding ASC Resource Base. This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of a strong team of teachers and support staff educating our students with SEND (predominantly ASC). This position would be suitable for a primary or secondary trained teacher, with any subject specialism being less important than your passion, competence and enthusiasm for working with our students and for your own self-development.
The teacher would take responsibility for the education of a range of subjects (including English, maths, RE, history and geography) to a specific class. This class will be made up of 5 ASC Base students and a small number of other students with additional needs. The students will follow a hybrid curriculum being taught the subjects above, together as a small class, and also attending specialist subjects in mainstream lessons with mainstream teachers.
This will involve working flexibly with the newly expanded team of 2 other teachers, a HLTA and 10 classroom support assistants to ensure a high quality, bespoke and meaningful educational experience for our students.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. To ensure that this is achieved we expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and staff will be recruited and selected in line with safer recruitment policy and practice. The successful applicant will undertake an enhanced DBS check.
