Job overview

‘Training opportunities are wide-ranging drawing on the experience and expertise of staff within school’ Ofsted 2013

Buttershaw Business & Enterprise College is housed in a brilliant new £26 million building which is a massive investment in both the school and the community. We are on the southern edge of Bradford and 7 miles from Leeds. We are popular locally and heavily over-subscribed.

Learning has been transformed at Buttershaw with new opportunities, new facilities and new technologies. The curriculum is innovative with courses for all abilities and we are truly proud of our inclusive approach and our commitment to see every child reach his or her potential.

The key benchmark figure of 5A*-C including English and maths rose from 20% to 47% between 2008 and 2013 and ethos improved strikingly. Results fell in 2014, but are expected to rise again this year.

We wish to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Maths teacher to act as a Senior Coach within Mathematics, and to be a member of the whole school Coaching and Mentoring team. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher with a strong record of success in the classroom who wants to focus on teaching and learning.

You will join a team of seven coaches and mentors who work with achievement leaders to improve the teaching and learning in the school through:

  • coaching and mentoring work with staff
  • planning and delivering professional development opportunities
  • co-ordinating and sharing good practice.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a proven track record of success in the classroom at all key stages
  • be a consistently 'good and outstanding teacher'
  • be committed, flexible, and able to motivate students of all abilities.

We can offer:

  • clear and shared values and expectations including a commitment to excellence in SEND provision
  • a commitment to tailored professional development
  • membership of a supportive team
  • a stimulating work environment.

The successful candidate will be eligible to apply for the Teaching Leaders Fellows programme which will be fully financially supported by the school.

If you have the vision and drive for excellence and you want to be part of an enthusiastic and well-resourced team we would like to hear from you. Visits to the school are encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Anna Krywyszyn or Taffy Hordley on 01274 805667, or by email at alk@buttershaw.net.

Job details and the application form can be downloaded from our school website: www.buttershaw.net (about BBEC/Vacancies).

Closing date for completed applications will be 9am on Monday 9 March 2015.

Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check
